Namakando Simamuna is a sexual and reproductive health advocate and a feminist. She is currently the Gender Programs Officer at the Center for Reproductive Health and Education and the Vice President of the National Youth Network on Population and Development/ AfriYAN, Zambia.
Namakando has extensive experience working with organizations including the International Planned Parenthood Federation Africa Regional Office (IPPF), and the Youth Coalition for Sexual and Reproductive Rights (YCSRR). Within these organizations, she has been working at national, regional and international level to promote young people’s access to comprehensive reproductive health services. Namakando is a member of the Southern African Young Feminist movement. She has served as the Project Coordinator for the Just Associates’ Building Women's Collective Power project since 2014. Namakando has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Population Studies at the University of Zambia. Her areas of interest include, population and development, youth leadership, social justice and gender equality and rights.
