Reproductive and Maternal Health Specialist at UNFPA
Batula is a public health professional with over eighteen years of experience in the area of public health both in Government, INGO and the UN.
Currently she is a reproductive and maternal health specialist with UNFPA based in Zanzibar liaison office. Batula joined UNFPA in Sept 2005 in Tanzania country office as a programme officer for Reproductive health for three years and later worked as international consultant in the same country officer for one year. She worked in UNFPA Kenya Country office as ASRH programme specialist since November 2009.
Before joining UNFPA she worked for International Rescue Committee as Reproductive Health Manager -Darfur Sudan and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent regional office in Nairobi as a regional Health/HIV Officer providing technical support to National societies in East and Horn of Africa. Batula started my health professional career with ministry of health Kenya and served in different capacities as direct service provider and programme manager from 1996-2003.
She holds a master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff UK, and a registered Nurse/ midwife from Kenya Medical Training College. Batula is currently a PhD student at University of Ghent Belgium.
